My Life In Pictures

Or I should say lack of pictures.  At least when I was younger.  My father was a photographer and you would think he would have taken tons of pictures of us kids, yet there really aren't very many at all.  And I have exactly ONE picture of me in front of a Christmas tree, and that was as a teenager.  I just find that rather sad, you know?

I started thinking about this when I was reading someone else's blog today, about taking pictures of your kids in their rooms and the things they do and with the things they have.  Granted back when I was a kid there weren't any digital cameras and film and developing could cost money, and you had to hope the picture would come out good.  I don't know if my dad had more albums of us and we just never got the pictures or what. But I only have one photo album with not very many pictures of me and my brothers as kids, barely any from high school years and hardly any from my Marine Corps years, which is very disappointing.  I love pictures so this lack of pictures makes me sad.

From the time I had my kids, I have taken a lot of pictures of them and have numerous albums of them, with pictures of them on Christmas and at Disneyland and on vacations to places.  So I guess I made up for that from my life. Though I didn't take any of their bedrooms which I wish now I had, to remember their rooms.  I know Nicole had a Strawberry Shortcake room and then a Rainbow Bright one, and later New Kids on the Block when she was a teen. Beau had Star Wars and I think GI Joe room.  (As for me, I can remember I had a light purple room when I was little and a special fuzzy purple dog to go with it, and as a teenager my mom made a bedspread and vanity skirt and curtains out of pink flowered fabric for my room.)  We've never decorated Sean Michael's room per se, but I have taken picture of him at holidays and with his toys, and after reading that blog, when I go home I want to take a picture of his bedroom and his gameroom, with him playing his Xbox, just because.

With the advent of digital cameras around the time Sean Michael came along, I went to town with pictures. lol It made it so much easier to be able to see all your pictures and delete the bad ones before you got them printed out.  (Though I had 35mm film cameras too that I did use.)  So there are tons of pictures of my grandkids, and I know they get sick of a camera in their face. But I figure they will appreciate it someday, and even now Sean Michael has gotten interested in photography which he might not have had I not always been taking pictures, and he is very good with a camera too.

So if you have a camera, get it out and take lots of pictures. Because more than likely you are going to regret it if you don't as the mind does forget, whereas your life in pictures won't.
