And Just Like That...
July is over and done with. And I guarantee it will not be a summer to reminisce about.

Wednesday's Words
Last night I saw a doe and her two fawns in our backyard. They were so adorable and of course my camera wasn't charged and they were too far to get a good picture with my phone.
It is only 9:44am but if someone but if someone put a plate of spaghetti in front of me I would eat it.
I am really tired of seeing the "f" word plastered all over Facebook.
I can't wait till September gets here and Janie and I get to take our trip.
I have 2,275 Stars from Starbucks, which translates into 18 free drinks.
I'm really proud of myself for having a blog post and then some for every day this month.

What I Didn't Do Over The Weekend
I did not do any redecorating of my living room like I planned over the weekend.
I didn't do any house-cleaning.
I didn't cook any meals.
I didn't give the dogs a bath.
I didn't do much of anything.

Sunday Somethings
Just a few pictures from Friday. I went to Hobby Lobby and was surprised to see Christmas in full force already!
Way to early for me to say the least!
Afterwards I went to Books-a-Million and was perusing a magazine and came upon this, and considering I am making that kind of trip in September, I took a pic of it for reference:
Later that evening, I went outside my front door and saw how the sun was on this spiderweb and thought it looked really cool:
And then we went to have Chinese food for dinner and saw this rainbow to nowhere. I've never seen that before so even though I was driving I pulled over so I could get a shot of it:
Should have taken some pictures over the weekend but seeing as I didn't go anywhere or do anything, these will have to do.

I'm Going to Paint
This weekend I am finally going to do something I have been thinking about for a really long time but just haven't got around to doing. And that is redecorating and painting the wood furniture in my living room. I have all the paint and brushes and plastic sheeting, etc, and so starting tomorrow I'm going to get busy.
Of course it is really going to be fun with two dogs in the way, but I can always lock up Cali if I need to. Yes, I am going to be painting in the living room itself because it is just too hot outside to drag everything out there and paint. So it should be interesting for sure. There are still a couple of things I need to pick up though for the decorating part; a painting I saw at HomeGoods, and I need to get some pictures developed to put in frames (frames I am going to repaint to go with the room), and I may do that tonight so that tomorrow I can get started and not have to go anywhere and lose my momentum.
I'm kind of excited about it and kind of not; I am because I want a new look and I think it will turn out pretty, and I'm not because it isn't the way I have in my head but to do that I would need new furniture and I can't do that yet because we have two dogs who act like two-year olds and spread their toys all over the place and lick the furniture. Then of course there is Spot-the-Cat who sheds like crazy. So.
I need to remember to take before pictures so that when I take the after you can tell the differences. Definitely going to be a busy weekend but looking forward to it.

Wednesday Wields:
Notice how good I'm doing on this blog this month? One post for every day so far. However, I am going to have to either end on the 30th or do two posts for the 31st as I don't like uneven numbers (And I'm not even OCD).
We are having tacos for dinner even though H doesn't like them.
Had Starbucks at lunch with Jose.
I miss Sean Michael. A lot.
This weekend is the weekend I am painting the wood furniture in the living room. Hope it turns out like what I have in my head.
To plan or to wing it....that is the question for September.
Speaking of September, this is the first year in 13 years I haven't had to buy school clothes or supplies. I kind of miss having to do that too even if it does save me money.
I figured out what I will get for retirement and it looks like I can retire when I am 62. Not bad.
From the looks of my cantaloupe plants, I'm going to have a million of them. Same with the tomatoes, which I don't even like.
Summer is half over now. Part of me is glad, part of me isn't.

House of Cards
There is a show on Netflix called House of Cards that stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright and its all about politics and, well, evil. We absolutely love it, and even though their characters should be hated, somehow you just don't. Anyway, last Thursday night at the Kennedy Center, there was a symphony concert led by the composer of House of Cards music, playing, what else, the House of Cards music. Hector found out about it accidently online and got us tickets for it and so we went.
It was really a lot of fun and the music was great. I took some pictures that they showed on screen while waiting for it to start:
In attendance, from left to right, was "President Walker", "Katherine Durant", the American writer of the show, Beau, the interviewer, the composer, , "Doug Stamper" (who plays Kevin's right hand man), the original British writer who came up with the whole thing in England, "Rachel", and the newspaper guy (I can't remember his name). After the music portion, they all sat on stage and discussed the show.
It would have been great had Kevin Spacey or Robin Wright been there but it was still pretty neat.

And North Carolina With Vanessa Part II
So Sunday we grabbed Beau and his girlfriend Bri and we went to Emerald Isle, which a beachy place and lots of people love to go there in the summer. We didn't go to the actual beach though; we just went to this strip mall and had lunch at Rucker Johns and looked around a bit (they actually had a scrapbooking store which was surprising as I thought all of them had gone out of business).
These pictures were taken outside the restaurant:
There were turtles in the little canal and most of them were small except for a couple of these pretty big ones:
Afterwards we went to an antique store but it was closed which was rather disappointing because it looked like it had some cool stuff in it. However, even though it wasn't open, we played around a bit...
That place was a great picture taking spot at any rate.
And so ended our weekend in NC.

Summer Glitches...
...the summer of 2012 when Hector had to go back home after being in California only two days because of a storm that knocked out power here and the person watching Casanova was so scared that something would happen to him because she had no AC.
...the summer of 2014 on the 4th of July the power went out at Mom's in the middle of me frying chicken and Derold and Jean came over so we all went to the clubhouse where there was power. (Turned out it was a circuit breaker and they just had to reset it.)
...same summer when we went to leave, our plane got delayed for hours so we ended up having Mom come back to get us and we went to breakfast and then for one last swim.

North Carolina With Vanessa
At the end of Vanessa's visit, she mentioned that she would really like to see my son Beau, so I thought, "Why not?" and we drove down there Saturday morning. We got there mid-afternoon and picked up Beau and then went to Red Robins for dinner because we were starving. Afterwards, we drove out to Onslow Beach and got some pictures:

Tomorrow will be a better hair day....
Love this picture....if we were a band it would be a great cover photo:
Beau being a "creeper":
And then just outright:
Love this picture of Beau:
Afterwards, we drove to mainside and I saw they had a Starbucks so of course we had to stop and get a drink:

My hair looks pretty bad in that picture but it was pretty breezy at the beach and I forgot to comb it before we took this. Oops.
Tomorrow will be a better hair day....

Day Two With Tonda And Vanessa
Ok, so on to the second day we spent at Tonda's. Nothing overly exciting but still just had a nice time with them, going to different antique shops and looking around, and then going to Solomon's Island for lunch:
This was called "Orange Crush" and it was delicious:
A little wild life hoping for a hand out I think:
And who knows, maybe this guy was hoping for some lunch too:
The owner of the restaurant caught this blue she-crab, and then threw her back because she was a she.

Later on at Tonda's, it was dessert time!:We left a little later that evening so we could get home but it was a great 2 days spent with great friends.

Day One With Tonda And Vanessa
I was finally going to post pictures yesterday but for some reason Blogger wouldn't show up. Weird. (Which is why 2 posts for today.) So, when Vanessa was here, we went and saw my friend Tonda and she took us to where she works, DC's Botanical Gardens, and the behind-the-scenes there. First, some at the gardens themselves:
Taking a picture of Vanessa taking a picture:
Tonda, me, and Vanessa:
The little sign says to keep out but Tonda says since she works there, she can go wherever she wants:
Vanessa and Tonda:
Anyway, it was a pretty fun day hanging out with Tonda and her daughter-in-law Maddie. We had Mexican food for dunch, and after the flowers we went to Annapolis and strlled around and had ice cream.

Just a few of the flowers:
Then we went to the behind-the-scenes place, where they have all the plants that are supplied to the Botanical Gardens, and also very rare plants and plants in general. Pretty cool place. I could have taken pictures there forever...but unfortunately my battery died so I only got through the cactus. Dang it!
