This Morning
As I was driving on base this morning, I could see it was going to be a beautiful sunrise. At first I was just going to go on to work, but seeing the colors, I couldn't resist going to the river and taking these:
What a gorgeous way for God to start out my day.

Seriously...This Is Getting Old!
I'll tell you what, it has been one thing after another! So my back finally feels better, but then last Thursday I started having allergies (I think because of the crazy weather we are having, it was 70 degrees Thursday and then back to cold on Friday) and of course the allergies morphed into a very stuffy nose, (which we all know I cannot stand) and then traveled down to my lungs, even though I have been taking meds out the kazoo to try and prevent it.
But apparently ZyrtecD and MucinexD and MucinexDM are no match for my nose/lungs because my nose is still somewhat stuffy and I've just about coughed up a lung, and got absolutely no sleep last night at all because when I tried to lay down I would cough and cough and cough, and then when I sat up in a chair I just couldn't sleep. I had even stayed home from work yesterday to just try and rest and do nothing, which is what I did, but I guess it didn't help. So I went to work today and let's just hope I manage to stay awake.
Anyway, all this is getting really old and I just want to feel good for a change. Seriously.

Just A Little Behind
I've been lagging on this blog but with reason: I haven't been feeling the greatest for over a week now and ever at this moment I don't feel my best. My lower back started hurting a lot last week and I don't know if it was from the arthritis I have or what, and then I had some Flexerol rubbed on it and since then I've been having breathing problems. Of course I've been having problems with that for a while now, after having a nagging cough for a couple of months.
My back finally feels better (knock-on-wood) but still having the breathing problems and not getting a lot of sleep at night. Now you might think I would go to a doctor about this, and guess what? I DID!! I had an appointment on Monday as a follow-up to my ER visit back in December, and my doctor said my lungs sounded okay. And sometimes they do feel okay and I can breathe, but other times I can't get a deep breath. But I never seem to be at that stage when I'm by a doctor so they can see what I mean. Figures, right?
Anyway, I am being scheduled for another CT scan as the one I had showed a few "abnormalities", which is never a good word to have used on you, likewise "unusual". On the bright side though, my pancreas was "unremarkable" and that's a good word to hear, especially when it comes to the pancreas. Don't think I would want to hear "unusual" or "abnormal" about my pancreas, given my mom's diagnosis.
I also had blood drawn and they called me the very next day to tell me that my thyroid levels were "abnormal" too...but I can't remember if I took my meds Sunday or not, and actually I don't think I did but I don't know if it should throw it off that much. In any case, I have to go back within 2 weeks and have more blood drawn for another reading so we'll see, and then on the 31st I have an appointment with endocrinology to go over it.
I gotta say getting old sucks.

New Years Eve Eve (Or, December 30th)
(I'm a little late posting this, but better late than never)
Last Friday night we went to DC to see "LaLaLand" and "Jackie" at the E Street Cinema, but first we went to CoCo Sala for dinner. While it really features chocolate, it does have main dishes with some form of chocolate in them, and what we had was pretty darn good. I started out with this cocktail called "Fetish", which was chocolate vodka with strawberry foam, (and a chocolate-covered strawberry garnish) and oh goodness it was yummy!
For an appetizer, I had the rosemary parmesan fries and they were tasty (though I didn't take a picture of them because, well, they looked like fries.)
For the dinner part, Hector ordered Buffalo Sliders, and they were a tad spicy for sure.
I had the butternut squash risotto with pancetta, and while I could have eaten the whole thing right then, I didn't; I only ate half so I could save room for dessert.
I also ordered their Malted Martini, which tasted just like a malted milkshake. Truthfully I could have just sat there and tried out all the drinks and would have been happy with that. Well ok, the drinks and the desserts. Yeah....
And a look at the menu...which are enough to make you hungry by reading them.
As for the movies, I wasn't overly crazy about "Jackie" but I did enjoy "LaLaLand", I think especially because looking at Ryan Gossling is so easy on the eyes. :-)
Anyway, a nice Friday night.

Dessert was called "Azelia Amour" and had salted caramel ice cream and hazelnut mousse, and yes, it was absolutely delicious, not to mention artfully arranged on the plate like everything else. Nothing like a pretty dish to take a picture of.

2017 Resolutions
1) To follow God
2) To just be the best I can be under the circumstances.
That simple.
