Last Friday night we went to DC to see "LaLaLand" and "Jackie" at the E Street Cinema, but first we went to CoCo Sala for dinner. While it really features chocolate, it does have main dishes with some form of chocolate in them, and what we had was pretty darn good. I started out with this cocktail called "Fetish", which was chocolate vodka with strawberry foam, (and a chocolate-covered strawberry garnish) and oh goodness it was yummy!
For an appetizer, I had the rosemary parmesan fries and they were tasty (though I didn't take a picture of them because, well, they looked like fries.)
For the dinner part, Hector ordered Buffalo Sliders, and they were a tad spicy for sure.
I had the butternut squash risotto with pancetta, and while I could have eaten the whole thing right then, I didn't; I only ate half so I could save room for dessert.
Dessert was called "Azelia Amour" and had salted caramel ice cream and hazelnut mousse, and yes, it was absolutely delicious, not to mention artfully arranged on the plate like everything else. Nothing like a pretty dish to take a picture of.
I also ordered their Malted Martini, which tasted just like a malted milkshake. Truthfully I could have just sat there and tried out all the drinks and would have been happy with that. Well ok, the drinks and the desserts. Yeah....
And a look at the menu...which are enough to make you hungry by reading them.
As for the movies, I wasn't overly crazy about "Jackie" but I did enjoy "LaLaLand", I think especially because looking at Ryan Gossling is so easy on the eyes. :-)
Anyway, a nice Friday night.
